A couple of Week 1 cancellations is leading to an intriguing Florida/Georgia high school football showdown. Next Friday, Venice, No. 77 in the High School Football America 300, powered by NFL Play Football, travels to north Georgia to square-off with No. 115 Rabun Gap-Nacoochee.

The game was just scheduled because both teams had their week one games canceled. Venice was scheduled to play Booker from Sarasota, Florida. Booker announced earlier this week it was canceling the 2026 varsity season.

RGN was originally going to play Mount Bethel Christian (Georgia), but MBC canceled the game after a change at the head coaching position.

The change of schedule for Rabun Gap-Nacooche means that Eagles, who play in the North Carolina Independent Schools Athletic Association, open against three highly-ranked teams in the HSFA 300. After Venice, RGN will travel to Brownsburg, Indiana to play the Bulldogs, who have won back-to-back 6A state titles. The Dawgs are ranked No. 17 in our preseason rankings.

After Brownsburg, Rabun Gap-Nacoochee returns home to play No. 11 Baylor, the 2025 Tennessee Division II-AAA state champ. The Red Raiders are led by 5-star running back David Gabriel Georges, a Tennessee Volunteer-recruit. DGG is the No. 1 running back in our Class of 2027 college football prospects.
