Dorothee Oberlinger has recorded Steffani’s opera Orlando for Prospero. While working on this, we noted that there are parallels between Orlando and Donald I.
As a leader, Orlando is used to being in control of every situation and getting everything he wants. So does King Donald. This includes the Kennedy Center in Washington, one of his favorite playthings.
He has openly tried to have the Kennedy Center named after himself. However, a judge thwarted his efforts. But once such things get into his head, he can’t let them go. It becomes an obsession. Now, the existential conflict drove him into a frenzy, and he lost his mind.
Therefore, everyone around him had to find a way for him to get what he wants—in a way that would satisfy him. They found it, as we’ve seen.
The question now is whether someone will step forward and travel to the Moon, as Astolfo did for Orlando, to retrieve Donald’s lost mind.
