Miami drivers are getting a small break at the pump as the first full week of school gets underway, with the average price of regular gasoline falling 1.6 cents per gallon over the past week.
Drivers in the Miami metropolitan area are now paying an average of $3.92 per gallon. Prices are 8.5 cents per gallon lower than a month ago but remain 86.1 cents higher than a year ago.
According to GasBuddy price reports, the cheapest station in Miami was selling regular gasoline for $3.58 per gallon on Sunday, while the highest reported price was $5.79 per gallon, the price drivers were paying at both Key Biscayne gas stations.
Nationally, prices moved in the opposite direction. The average price of gasoline rose 7.7 cents per gallon over the last week, climbing back above the $4 mark to $4.02 per gallon.
“Average gasoline prices climbed back above $4 per gallon over the last week, with prices rising in slightly more states than they fell, as rebounding oil prices driven by the continued closure of the Strait of Hormuz and ongoing Ukrainian attacks on Russian oil refineries kept upward pressure on the market,” said Patrick De Haan, head of petroleum analysis at GasBuddy.
