A Miami-Dade woman is facing charges after authorities said she poured hot wax on her daughters’ hands before setting a fire in her kitchen.

Meliza Campos-Sanchez, 26, was arrested on charges including child abuse with no great bodily harm, child neglect with no great bodily harm and arson, Miami-Dade jail records showed.

According to arrest reports, Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office deputies had responded on Sunday to a call of an intentional fire set in the kitchen of a home in the 4200 block of Southwest 95th Avenue.

Campos-Sanchez was taken to a hospital for a mental health evaluation, known as a Baker Act, the reports said.

It was later discovered she posted two videos to her Instagram account, including one that showed her in the kitchen using lit candles to pour melted wax on her leg and then in the hands of her two daughters, ages 6 and 3, the reports said.

The other video showed her singing and dancing in her kitchen while holding a lighter before she drops two articles of clothing on the floor, sprays them with a liquid from a bottle then lights it on fire, the reports said.

Investigators believe the bottle contained rubbing alcohol.

The older daughter told investigators that after her mother started the fire she used a bowl of water to extinguish the flames, the reports said.

Authorities found remnants of fire-damaged clothing in a trash can outside the home.

Investigators spoke with Campos-Sanchez’s husband, who said they’d been having marital issues and he was staying with his parents, the reports said.

He also said Campos-Sanchez had previously tied a rope in the rafters in a suicide attempt, the reports said.

After her release from the hospital, Campos-Sanchez was booked into jail. She later appeared before a judge who appointed a public defender and ordered her held without bond, although she also has an immigration hold, records showed.
