The Chattaway will permanently change hands by mid-September, current co-owner Debby Kitto confirmed Monday.
The Chattaway, one of St. Petersburg’s most iconic and oldest restaurants and hangouts, is in the process of being sold to a trio of local investors.
The storied drive-in restaurant’s time as a community meeting place for St. Petersburg locals is far from over.
Local developer Cullen Mahoney and restaurateurs Mark Ferguson and John John Delladonna have teamed up to keep The Chattaway alive in virtually its same state, with a few updates coming in due time.
On the heels of the sale, Kitto and company will be holding a customer appreciation yard sale on Saturday, Sept. 22, from noon-4 p.m.
The sale will continue the two subsequent weekends. The famed burger spot will be serving snacks and $1 drafts during that four-hour window, she said.
All holiday items, nicknacks, teapots, teacups and more will be for sale.
