PANAMA CITY, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) – HCA Florida Gulf Coast Hospital is undergoing a $125 million expansion that includes a new patient tower and additional beds.
The expansion includes a new patient tower with a 16-bed orthopedic and spine unit, along with 34 additional beds.
The project will also expand the outpatient entrance by 5,000 square feet.
Other upgrades include expanding the women’s center, adding a fourth cath lab, and expanding the existing NICU into a PICU.
Chase Christianson, CEO of HCA Florida Gulf Coast Hospital, said the growth in Bay County is driving the need for expanded health care services.
“Bay County has done an incredible job growing. It’s got a bright future. It’s a popular environment with the organic growth it’s experienced over the last several years. It has really increased demand in health care services,” Christianson said. “So we are committed to being consistent in our health care services. We are committed to our investment and making sure we grow the right way to continue meeting that growing demand.”
The new patient tower will be located beside the main campus on 23rd Street in Panama City.
The hospital says the project is currently in the design phase, with construction and development expected to take place over the next 24 to 36 months and will be completed by 2029.
