The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office said the woman was crossing McDuff Avenue South at the intersection of Rexford Street when she was hit.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office is investigating after an elderly woman was killed in a hit-and-run crash on the city’s westside Saturday night.

JSO Sgt. Robert Hungerford said a woman was crossing McDuff Avenue South at the intersection of Rexford Street when an unknown vehicle struck her around 9:15 p.m.

According to Hungerford, the woman was taken to a local hospital where she was pronounced dead.

The driver of the vehicle that hit the woman left the scene without providing aid, calling for medical help, nor reporting the incident to police, Hungerford said.

This marks as the 114th traffic fatality in Duval County of 2026.
