It’s not hyperbolic to say that an entire generation of music fans were brought to adulthood inside Crowbar. Tampa Bay area live music lovers of all ages can see just how much the now-shuttered Ybor City venue meant to Gen Z by picking up the latest issue of Small Talks music magazine.
Launched a year ago, the pub is back with a second outing which is a 70-page, deeply personal obituary for the space that closed last month. Complete with mixtapes, essays, reviews, photos, and collage, Small Talks Editor-In-Chief Emma Hintz and team have put together one hell of a farewell.
“Crowbar is everything to me, I have met so many friends here, shared so many memories with my best friends here, became a better photographer here, its closing is so heartbreaking to me, it was my second home for a large portion of my life,” Hintz wrote, “and I will never ever forget it.”
Crowbar co-founder Tom DeGeorge will be part of a discussion, in between sets by music from Treis Alexander and selector Delaney Staack (pictured). Florida jewelry maker Bite of Florida will be on site along with Vic from Baby Tats who is also an illustrator for Tampa Bay Journalism Project partner Sapphic Sun.
