PORT ST. LUCIE – Police are investigating the cause of death of a man found floating in the St. Lucie River on Nov. 7 at about 8:11 a.m.

According to police reports, two men were fishing on the boardwalk under the Twin Bridges on Southeast Port St. Lucie Boulevard near the Botanical Gardens when they saw a dead body floating in the river.

Port St. Lucie Police Marine Unit responded and retrieved the body from the river. It is unknown how long the body was in the river, according to police reports.

Cause of death will be determined at an autopsy, police said. Police also are working to establish identification of the body.
