Right after striking a major deal with Klay Thompson, the Heat are now looking to add a rotational power forward who can play serviceable minutes at the team’s frontcourt spot, according to Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald.

“As the Heat finalizes a deal with Klay Thompson for its 13th roster spot – a deal could be formalized as early as Sunday – work already is being done on the 14th spot, which the Heat prefers to use on a power rotation player who could log minutes at center or power forward,” the report noted.

Miami Heat still uncertain to sign Nick Richards

The Miami Heat were recently linked to Nick Richards as a potential big man addition to bolster their interior depth, with Giannis Antetokounmpo and Bam Adebayo leading the way.

However, it remains uncertain if the Heat can sign the free-agent big man, as Richards is also exploring options and offers from other teams interested in his play.

“Veteran 6-11 center Nick Richards has emerged as a player of considerable interest to Miami, but Richards is considering several options and it’s unclear if another team has offered him more guaranteed money,” Jackson added in his report.

Richards spent last season with the Phoenix Suns and Chicago Bulls. He averaged 5.8 points and 5.1 rebounds in 14.6 minutes per game across 48 games in 2025-26.
