Robyn Lawrence is seeking to make history by becoming the first Trans member of the Florida House or Representatives. I am in awe of the courage of all of the Run Everywhere candidates, running in red districts, where a climate of hate might be intimidating. I’m especially in awe of a Trans person running in that environment.
But while Robyn is running to be a first, she is also running because Lake County and the state or Florida are last in so many areas and she pledges to change that. Florida is 50th of all states in funding for public education, including teacher salaries. Her district, Lake County, has been neglected by the DeSantis regime in all areas.
Here is her story:
My name is Robyn Elaine Lawrence, and before I say anything about politics… I want to tell you something personal.
I am a Post-Op Transgender Woman
There was a time in my life when I didn’t know if I could truly be myself.
I remember what it felt like to walk into a room and wonder…
“Will I be accepted here?”
“Will I be safe here?”
“Do I belong here?”
That feeling… stays with you.
And the truth is—there are people right here in Lake County who feel that way every single day.
Young people.
Parents.
Neighbors.
People who just want to live their lives with dignity—but instead are made to feel like they have to hide.
And I made a decision.
I decided I would never go back into the shadows.
I decided I would stand up—not just for myself—but for every person who has ever felt unseen, unheard, or unsafe.
That’s why I’m standing here today.
That’s why I’m running.
Robyn joins the other Run Everywhere candidates in supporting Healthcare for all, Affordability, lowering housing costs, and equal rights for all
And/or donate to all the 140 Blue Florida candidates here.
