Brush fire mostly contained in Leesburg, Florida Forest Service says
LEESBURG, Fla. —
A 10-acre brush fire that started Saturday in Leesburg was more than half contained by that evening, according to the Florida Forest Service.
The fire started around 2:50 p.m. and was near Northern Avenue and Lincoln Road in Fern Prairie Preserve, the FFS said in a statement.
Lake County Fire Rescue provided support at the scene as Withlacoochee Forestry Center responded to the blaze, the statement reads, adding that no structures were threatened. Units with the Leesburg Fire Department were also seen responding.
Closer to 5 p.m., the FFS reported the fire was 65% contained.
