PIEDMONT —One might guess that Cross Land’s 80-yard touchdown bomb to Qua McNeal on Jacksonville’s first offensive snap of the season was called well before Friday, and one would guess right.

“It was called in June,” second-year Jacksonville coach Jeremy Sullivan said.

Land went on to throw three touchdown passes to McNeal in the quarterback’s first start since transferring from Auburn and McNeal’s first start since moving to receiver, and the unranked Class 4A Golden Eagles topped Class 2A top-ranked Piedmont 34-8 on the Field of Champions.
