ST. LUCIE COUNTY, Fla. (CBS12) — Crews from the National Weather Service office in Melbourne are expected to survey damage across parts of the Treasure Coast Monday morning after severe storms and possible tornadoes moved through the area Sunday.

Videos sent to CBS12 News showed funnel clouds in several areas, including Port St. Lucie, as strong winds and storms swept across the Treasure Coast and parts of northern Palm Beach County.
The National Weather Service said it is also aware of damage reported in Jensen Beach.

Based on preliminary information from Martin County Emergency Management, storm spotter calls and videos submitted to local media, forecasters said a brief landspout or tornado likely developed near the Treasure Coast Square Mall.
The weather service said the possible tornado lofted a small amount of debris and caused minor damage.

The area is among the locations investigators are expected to assess Monday. Crews will examine the damage to determine whether a tornado touched down and, if confirmed, gather information about its path and strength.
The storms also caused problems farther south.
In Jupiter, a large tree fell across the road near Donald Ross Road and Central Boulevard Sunday night. Jupiter police responded and blocked the area to prevent drivers from hitting the tree.
