MARGATE, FLA. (WSVN) – A devastated husband and father is opening up about the sudden strike from the sky that claimed the lives of his wife and 2-year-old daughter in Margate over the weekend.
Kameron Glasgow was on his knees and hearbroken over the loss of his wife, 31-year-old Kenya Glasgow, and one of their twin daughters, 2-year-old Kennedy Rose, Sunday afternoon.
According to Margate Police, Kenya and Kennedy were struck and killed by lightning in the driveway of a family member’s house along Northwest First Street.
Kameron said he was just feet away. He said he felt some of it and that his other daughter hadn’t gotten out of the car yet.
“Worst feeling in the world, and to turn around and see your wife and your daughter, their life is even worse,” he said. “I got the actual aftershock from the ground. By the grace of God, I’m still here as well.”
Neighbor Prince Moody said he was inside his home across the street when he heard and saw the bolt from the sky.
“I heard this large lightning strike, I saw an orange glow through my window. My son said, ‘Dad, there is a lady on the floor, she got hit,’” he said. “I almost didn’t want to believe him, and I looked at my window, and I saw a lady.”
First responders rushed both victims to the hospital — Kenya to North Broward Medical Center in Deerfield Beach, Kennedy Rose to Broward Health Medical Center — but police said both died shortly after arriving.
“Every achievement that we’ve been through in life, we’ve been doing it together, in lockstep. It’s going to be tough to lose somebody that I’ve been with for half my life,” said Kameron.
Now a family is grieving two lives, remembering Kenya and little Kennedy Rose. Kameron shared various photos and videos of his family members in better times.
“My wife, the biggest heart in the world, the biggest heart in the world, puts everybody before herself, everybody. My daughter, my wife, amazing, amazing people,” said Kameron.
He added that Kennedy’s twin sister has now lost her best friend.
“For her to lose her twin sister, words can’t describe that feeling cause I know she can’t even fathom it right now, that she lost her best friend,” said Kameron.
Monday morning, Kameron paid tribute to his wife and daughter in a Facebook post, writing in part:
“I just lost my best friend. My daughter just lost her best friend … I know you both have us covered for the rest of our lives. We will make you both our story and take it one day at time because I know you both are guiding us.”
Police have not released additional information about this incident, as they continue to investigate.
