A man is facing charges after he allegedly fled the scene of a hit-and-run crash in Sweetwater in a rideshare, police said.
Ahmmad Samir Kayyali, 30, was arrested on charges including leaving the scene of a crash with no serious injury and knowingly driving with a suspended license, an arrest report said.
The crash happened shortly before 9 p.m. Monday at Southwest 107th Avenue and Southwest 4th Street.
A woman who was injured in the crash said she was making a left turn when there was a collision with another vehicle, a gray Nissan Rogue.
Multiple witnesses saw the driver of the Rogue, later identified as Kayyali, get out and flee and one witness said the driver approached and requested he order him an Uber, the report said.
Kayyali eventually got into an Uber but was later detained by Miami Police, the report said.
After he was in custody, Kayyali made multiple spontaneous statements saying he was driving and fled the scene because he “felt lightheaded and wanted to lie down,” the report said.
Kayyali was booked into jail and expected to appear in bond court on Tuesday. Attorney information wasn’t available.
