ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. – A St. Petersburg High School bus carrying nearly 30 people collided with another vehicle Tuesday morning, prompting police to shut down a stretch of 9th Avenue North while emergency crews worked the scene.
According to the St. Petersburg Police Department, the bus was transporting 27 students and two adults when the collision occurred at the intersection of 9th Avenue North and 10th Street North.
First responders evaluated passengers at the scene and confirmed that only minor injuries were reported. No students or adults required transport to a local hospital.
Authorities closed 9th Avenue North in both directions between Martin Luther King Jr. Street and Jackson Street to clear the wreckage and conduct an initial investigation.
Drivers are being advised to avoid the area and seek alternative routes while officers remain on scene.
