Some places feel comfortable the minute you walk in, and Pistil House is one of those places. Located in a converted bungalow at 2533 1st Ave S, the space is part coffee shop, part wine bar, part flower shop, and entirely charming. It feels more like stepping into someone’s living room than a business, with cozy seating areas, board games, and picnic tables out front.
Pistil House has also become a go-to spot for live music thanks to “Porch Tunes”, a series of performances by local artists on the front porch every Thursday and Saturday night. The weekly music nights have become a neighborhood favorite.

Front porch performances
The best thing about Porch Tunes is that it keeps things simple. Every Thursday and Saturday from 6:30 to 8:30 pm, local musicians perform just steps from the front door while guests gather inside and outside to listen. Between the laid-back atmosphere, conversations between songs, and performers only a few feet away, the experience feels more like a picnic with the neighbors than a traditional concert.
Performances this week include June Bunch on Thursday, August 27, and Jordyn & Austin on Saturday, August 29. June Bunch is known for her indie-folk songwriting, while Jordyn & Austin are an acoustic duet who play a mix of pop, rock, and country covers.

Flowers, drinks, and snacks
When you stop into Pistil House for a coffee, expect to stay for a while. You can build a custom bouquet from the flower display, settle into the couch with a card game, catch up with friends over a bottle of wine, or claim a picnic table outside before the music starts. Every space in the house feels a little bit different, so it’s easy to find a favorite corner and relax.
The food and drink lineup is also worth mentioning. Along with beer, wine, coffee, and pastries, Pistil House offers build-your-own charcuterie boards, house-made focaccia (with a butter of the week!), boiled peanuts, and a cucumber dip served with Fritos. They also have a sandwich special available Wednesday through Sunday that changes every week, but some recent favorites have included a Crabby BLT and Poblano Grilled Cheese. Regulars know the sandwiches are worth showing up early for, because once they’re sold out, they’re sold out.
Catch the next tunes
Some of the best nights out don’t require a ticket or a crowded venue. On any evening, you’ll find Pistil House buzzing with regulars stopping in for coffee, friends catching up over a glass of wine, and curious people wandering over after hearing music from the porch.
The next Porch Tunes performance features June Bunch this Thursday, August 27 from 6:30 to 8:30 pm. For the full lineup and more details, follow Pistil House on Instagram.
