There are two things you want in a sports bar: a good view of the screen, and prices that don’t make you feel like you need the salary of the athletes you’re watching to afford your tab. Trailer Daddy (217 Central Ave) is giving us both in Downtown St. Pete.

The re-imagined space on the Jannus Block has been plenty popular since opening a few months ago, but it’s about to get even better with the best three months on the sporting calendar about to begin. Between now and November, we have the MLB playoffs, the kickoff of college and NFL football, the beginning of international soccer season, the first puck drop of the NHL season, and tipoff for both college basketball and the NBA. It’s about to get good, sports fans.

Essentially, every day of the week until almost Christmas, we have games on TV. That, of course, is where Trailer Daddy comes back into the conversation. In addition to having plenty of said screens for watching games, they also have one of the best happy hours in all of St. Pete. Monday-Thursday from 5-7 pm, it’s half-off everything at the bar.

This is not a limited list of well drinks of domestic drafts. This is everything, for exactly half of the total U.S. Dollars it would typically cost to purchase and consume. Craft cocktails, local beer, or your favorite NA drink, all half price. Plus, it’s actually at a convenient time. If work has you busy until 5, then you’re free at exactly the right time. This isn’t a happy hour you have to sneak out early for, and you certainly won’t feel the need to order three at a time just to sneak in under an early cutoff. Take your time, order some food, and have a drink without worrying about the total.

This is also the time to give Trailer Daddy credit for offering specials on weekends, too. We love stopping by for some Wednesday afternoon baseball, but you can save money on Saturday and Sunday gamedays, too.

Every Saturday and Sunday of football season, you can catch deals during all the action. They’re launching wing specials all fall long, shotski boards for the groups, and bucket specials to keep the whole table happy and on a budget. Plus you can get some of the best sandwiches in town from Tony D’s.

While they’ll be showing games from all over the country, Trailer Daddy is a Florida Gators, Purdue and Tampa Bay Bucs bar, specifically. To show that enthusiasm, they’re doing $1 jello shots for every single Bucs or Gators touchdown all season long. It’s a much more reliable way to profit off Baker throwing tuddies than the $10 parlay that always comes up one leg short.

Market season at Trailer Daddy

Sports get us in year-round, but this is also a good time to mention the “Yard Sale Sundays” market series taking place every Sunday in August at Trailer Daddy. From 12-5 pm every Sunday, enjoy a mix of vintage goods, local makers, art, and small-business gems gathered on their Florida-inspired patio.

In addition to shopping, the market benefits FLUFF rescue, with Good Boy providing drink specials and bucket deals throughout the festivities. With the NFL preseason in action, it’s there rare time and place you can explore a local market while simultaneously cheering for Chris Godwin as he sprints down the sideline. That’s a win for everybody involved.
