15 migrants taken to The Bahamas after vessel interdicted with 19 near Miami Beach, USCG says – NBC 6 South Florida

The U.S. Coast Guard on Friday transferred 15 migrants to the Bahamas after they were interdicted near Miami Beach, officials said.

According to the USCG, on Aug. 18, crews interdicted a vessel that was 22 miles east of Miami Beach that carried 19 migrants.

USCG said that four of those migrants were taken to Homeland Security Investigations.

“This successful interdiction is a clear demonstration of our unwavering resolve to secure America’s maritime borders,” said Lt. Cmdr. Justin Dadlani, Coast Guard liaison officer to The Bahamas and Turks & Caicos Islands, in a statement.
