The Orlando Amphitheater will transform into a world of electronic music and visual art this weekend during a festival returning for its second year.
The Metamorphosis Music and Arts Project, which flutters into the Central Florida Fairgrounds Friday and Saturday, features well-known DJs, art installations, vendors and “immersive activities” for all attendees. An estimated 8,000 ravers will gather to hear Illenium, Ganja White Night, BUNT., Cassian, Sullivan King, INZO and dozens of other DJs during the two-day event with four stages.
“People are going to see a lot of great acts, production, lasers, sound and lighting that will blow their socks off,” said Erik Zika, one of the partners of the production team behind the festival. “There’s also the community with a lot of great local businesses participating.”
Metamorphosis, which began last year with three days of music in late August, is put on by Macrodose Entertainment, a collaboration between Vivid Sky Productions and Three Points Hospitality, both based in Gainesville.
“We really saw a need for hospitality in these festivals. We’ve been going to them for a long time,” Zika said. “We want everyone to feel that, when they come to our festival, they’re going to be treated properly and they’re going to be able to have a great time enjoying the music and production.”

As the festival works to grow its brand in Central Florida, Zika said it’s important to make sure there’s something at the festival for everyone and to provide a unique offering on a smaller scale than other big-name events, like EDC Orlando.
“We want it to be multi-genre so there’s a little bit of something for everyone. That’s something that’s really important, in our opinion, for the longevity of the fest,” he said. “It is a boutique festival. We want it to have a smaller footprint. We feel that there is an advantage to coming to a festival like this instead of a large-scale one.”

Metamorphosis Music Festival has gates open at 2 p.m. and music starting at 3 p.m. Aug. 28-29 at 4603 W. Colonial Drive in Orlando. The festival is open only to ages 18 and older.
