As of a few months ago, women made up more than half of the workforce in America, Forbes reported.
The business publication released this year’s ranking of America’s Best Employers For Women.
Women represent nearly 80% of the healthcare workforce, and Tampa General Hospital has been named to Forbes’ list, ranking No. 6 in Florida and No. 210 overall.
The ninth annual ranking is based on survey responses from more than 146,000 women working for companies that employ at least 1,000 people in the U.S.
The 700 companies with the highest scores made it to the America’s Best Employers For Women 2026 list.
The hospital is the highest-ranked employer in the healthcare & social services industry category in the Tampa Bay region.
At Tampa General, women make up more than 77% of the hospital’s workforce, representing nearly 72% of leaders, 67% of director-level and above positions, and nearly half of executive leadership roles across the academic health system.

Tampa General also invests in professional growth, providing leadership development programs, mentorship, tuition assistance and scholarships for employees.
Those investments contributed to these results, according to Tampa General: 78.4% of all internal promotions during fiscal year 2026 year-to-date have been awarded to women, while 81.14% of team members receiving tuition assistance over the past 12 months have been women.
