Cape Coral’s long-awaited Yacht Club restoration is underway after City Council approved a $22.7 million contract with Wright Construction Group to manage the project’s marine phase. The work will include removing storm-damaged docks and seawalls, constructing new marine structures and dredging along the riverfront. City Manager Michael Ilczyszyn said the marine improvements must be completed before building upland features such as a new community center, harbor master building and parking garage. The overall redevelopment could cost more than $300 million. Earlier this year, the city received a $2 million state grant to support seawall and pier reconstruction.
