Per Brett Siegel of ClutchPoints, Richards signs a minimum deal with the Heat.
Miami now has the NBA-required minimum of 14 players on standard contracts entering the 2026-27 season.
Richards joins the Heat shortly after the team completed the signing of Klay Thompson. Miami had been looking for additional frontcourt depth following Thompson’s arrival.
The 7-foot center gives the Heat another option behind Bam Adebayo and Bobby Portis.
Richards spent last season with Suns and Bulls
Richards split the 2025-26 season between the Phoenix Suns and Chicago Bulls.
He averaged 5.8 points, 5.1 rebounds and 0.7 blocks in 48 games while shooting 51.2% from the field.
His role increased after a February trade to Chicago.
Richards averaged 9.4 points and 7.6 rebounds in 20 games for the Bulls, including four starts.
Chicago acquired him from Phoenix in a three-team trade involving the Milwaukee Bucks.
The Bulls later renounced their free-agent rights to Richards in July, making him an unrestricted free agent.

Richards brings six years of NBA experience
Richards, 28, has played six NBA seasons with the Charlotte Hornets, Suns and Bulls.
He has career averages of 7.1 points, 5.8 rebounds and 0.8 blocks in 305 regular-season games.
The Jamaican center was selected with the 42nd pick in the 2020 NBA Draft after playing three seasons at Kentucky.
