Police say Amario Gilbert fatally shot a woman before turning the gun on himself.
TAMPA, Fla. — Following the shooting deaths of two people in Tampa last week, investigators now say it was a murder-suicide.
On the morning of Aug. 21, police responded to a home on North 15th Street.
There, they found a woman in her mid-20s with a fatal gunshot wound along with 51-year-old Amario Gilbert with a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Evidence shows the two knew each other and had gotten into a fight before Gilbert shot at the woman.
Gilbert succumbed to his injuries shortly after police arrived.
The female victim’s three young children were also inside the home at the time of the shooting. All of them were found safe.
Tampa police are working to ensure the safety and privacy of the children. A previous report says they are in the care of family members.
