INGLIS, Fla. (WCJB) – A video purporting to expose a North Central Florida mayor for racism has gone viral on social media this week.
In a comment to TV20, Isaac Young, the mayor of the town of Inglis, has apologized for the incident, which he said was an accident.
On Wednesday, Eric Bryan Stone, a popular social media content creator, posted a video exposing Young in an effort to “make racists scared again.”
Stone explains that many commenters posted racial slurs on an Instagram influencer’s video depicting a mixed-race couple.
One commenter posted the word “mudshark,” a slur used to describe a white person in a relationship with a Black person.
In his video, Stone accuses Young of liking the racist comment from his Instagram account. Stone explains that Young is a mayor in Florida.
Young told TV20 that he may have accidentally liked the comment while scrolling. He also clarified that what he does on his personal time has nothing to do with the town.
As of this report, Stone’s video has received hundreds of thousands of likes on Facebook and Instagram since being posted.
