The remnants of Tropical Storm Dolly may leave Miami with higher than normal chances of showers and thunderstorms through Friday, according to the National Weather Service.
People can expect a majority of the rainfall during the morning and early afternoon hours, NWS meteorologist Chuck Caracozza said. There is around a 70 to 80% of rain each day this week, and residents should be cautious of potential flash floods in parts of Miami-Dade.
It will be hot and humid, too, according to Caracozza, with persistent temperatures in the lower 90s throughout the week.
The rain is much needed, according to the National Weather Service. Most of metro Miami-Dade along with a majority of interior areas of South Florida are in a severe drought and western Miami-Dade is experiencing an extreme drought.
Caracozza said it’s too early to be sure, but it looks like the rain will continue into Saturday and Sunday.
