MIAMI — Authorities in Miami are investigating a stabbing incident that occurred at Miami Northwestern Senior High School.
It happened Monday just before 12:30 p.m. when Miami Fire Rescue crews responded the school, located at 1100 NW 71st St. in the Liberty City neighborhood, after receiving reports of an altercation.
According to officials, first responders found an 18-year-old who had been stabbed and rushed him to Jackson Memorial Hospital’s Ryder Trauma Center in stable condition.
An MFR spokesperson said that medics also took a 15-year-old boy who had a cut to his hand to JHM. He was also in stable condition.
In video posted to social media, two students can be seen ganging up on another student, punching him and then appearing to stomp on his head while he is on the ground.
The boys then run away as the student who was being attacked chased after them.
Students that spoke to Local 10 News said the school was placed on lockdown as officials searched for the suspect responsible.
No other information about the incident or the injuries was immediately made available.
In a statement, Miami-Dade County Public Schools said the incident resulted in criminal charges, but did not elaborate.
The statement read:
Miami-Dade County Public Schools (M-DCPS) is aware of an incident involving students at one of our high schools. The matter was immediately addressed by the school’s administration and the Miami-Dade Schools Police Department, subsequently resulting in criminal charges. The District takes the safety and well-being of our students and staff very seriously and remains committed to maintaining a secure school environment for all.

There has been no word from authorities on the circumstances that led up to the stabbings.
