Two percent of proceeds from every Tropical Bay IPA can sold is being donated directly to Zoo Miami Foundation.
In a first-of-its-kind collaboration celebrating two of Miami’s most recognizable icons, Biscayne Bay Brewing has partnered with Zoo Miami Foundation to launch a community-driven conservation initiative dedicated to protecting Florida’s beloved flamingos.
Beginning July 1, every can of Tropical Bay IPA sold throughout Florida is helping make a difference. Whether purchased at local bars, restaurants, supermarkets, liquor stores, or Zoo Miami, 2 percent of proceeds from every Tropical Bay IPA can sold is being donated directly to Zoo Miami Foundation to support flamingo conservation efforts, wildlife research, educational programming, and habitat preservation across Florida.
More than a partnership, the initiative represents a shared commitment to preserving one of the state’s most iconic species while encouraging the community to support local businesses and local wildlife with every purchase.
Once found in the thousands throughout Florida, flamingos were driven from the state in the 1800s due to overhunting for their feathers and meat. Taking up residence in Mexico, Cuba, the Bahamas, and other islands in the Caribbean, they were only occasional migrants to Florida during the past nearly two centuries, until now. Today, thanks to Everglades restoration efforts and ongoing conservation initiatives, flamingos are making a remarkable comeback and once again are establishing themselves in Florida.
“This partnership is about more than beer; it’s about celebrating what makes Miami unique and protecting it for the future,” said Sven Sommer of Biscayne Bay Brewing. “Tropical Bay was inspired by the color, energy, and tropical lifestyle of South Florida, so aligning it with flamingo conservation felt like a natural extension of that story.”
Bright, tropical, and brewed for easy enjoyment, Tropical Bay IPA has become a local favorite across South Florida. With this partnership, everyone can now carry a deeper purpose, helping fund real conservation work that protects flamingos in Florida and beyond.
Beyond fundraising, the collaboration also will spotlight educational initiatives led by the Zoo Miami Foundation, raising awareness of flamingo populations, their habitats, and their role in Florida’s ecosystem.
“Flamingos are one of the most iconic symbols of Florida,” the brewery added. “This is our way of giving that symbol real support, not just as an image, but as a living species that deserves protection.”
Founded in 2012, Biscayne Bay Brewing has built its identity around celebrating Miami through craft beer, while maintaining strong ties to the local community. From sports partnerships to neighborhood- driven collaborations, the brewery continues to champion initiatives that reflect the culture and character of the city it calls home.
Consumers can find Biscayne Bay Brewing’s Tropical Bay IPA at Zoo Miami and select South Florida retailers such as Publix, Trader Joes, WholeFoods, Target, Fresh Market, Milam’s, Total Wine, and more.
