There can never be enough guitar stores in a town, and when one door closes, and another one opens then closes, that first door opens again. That’s kind of what happened with Legends.

The shop on Hillsborough Avenue once had the finest and widest selection of vintage guitars in the Southeast until it closed in May 2011. Five years later Tampa got another place to noodle around in South Tampa’s Replay Guitar Exchange, but that shop closed last January.

Well, Legends is back, this time inside an old tile shop just three miles away.

Driven in part by Julie Fischer, who’s been supporting local guitar-driven concerts over the summer, Legends celebrates a grand opening this weekend complete with live music, lasers, art, a guitar raffle, giveaways, and more. Even Kent Sonenberg, who ran the original Legends, will be there.

There’s no cover for Legends Guitar’s grand opening happening at 3133 W Kennedy Blvd. in Tampa on Saturday, Sept. 5.
