ONSLOW COUNTY, N.C. (WITN) – A Jacksonville man was arrested after he was accused of strangling a woman over multiple years.
Joshua Lanman was charged Friday with felony assault by strangulation, misdemeanor crime of domestic violence, and misdemeanor assault on a female.
In May, military police officers said they were called to a domestic dispute between Lanman and the victim on Marine Corps Air Station New River.
The Onslow County Sheriff’s Office was then called to help with the investigation.
Deputies said Lanman was violent to the victim on several occasions dating back several years near Sneads Ferry.
According to warrants, he had strangled her to the point where she lost consciousness and urinated on herself due to the pressure on her throat.
Records continue to say that he would twist her arms, bite her nose and ears, slam her head, and smother her with a pillow, among other types of assault.
The 24-year-old posted a $20,000 bond and is on electronic ankle monitoring.
