
Pinellas County’s Human Rights Board is exploring options to investigate Sheriff Bob Gualtieri
An investigation by ProPublica found that the jail was repeatedly booking immigrants, briefly releasing them into ICE custody, then rebooking them to reset the time limit. The Pinellas County Human Rights Board said they are exploring legal options to investigate the practice.

Pinellas County Sheriff, Gualtieri, stated the devices remain a vital tool for law enforcement. At a press conference in Largo, he stated that there may be “legitimate” concerns while still defending their use for the cameras. Following multiple firings of police, he has denied allegations of misuse of data within Pinellas County Sheriff’s office.
House Democratic Leader Fentrice Driskell calls for the impeachment of Attorney General James Uthmeier over the Hope Florida grand jury report
The report found that the DeSantis administration misappropriated $10 million dollars of a Medicaid settlement through the Hope Florida Foundation. Both Uthmeier and Senator Ashley Moody maintain that there was no wrongdoing and no criminal charges have been filed.
