EAST TEXAS, Texas (KLTV) – Arp defeated Garrison 61-27, Grace defeated Timpson 40-34 and Jacksonville defeated Dallas Pinkston 49-6 in high school football Thursday.
Arp 61, Garrison 27
Dallas Cowboys linebacker DeMarvion Overshown, described as Arp royalty, attended the game.
After a three-and-out by Garrison, Arp’s Ty Langley broke a tackle, deflected off multiple defenders and reached the end zone to put Arp on the board. The two-point conversion attempt was good, making it 8-0 Tigers.
Arp built a 22-0 lead before Garrison’s Caden Leadon broke tackles and reached the end zone. Arp led 28-14 at halftime. The final score was 61-27 Arp.
Grace 40, Timpson 34
Grace hosted Timpson. Grace’s defense held, and Slade Etheredge threw a pass over the top behind receiver Christian Henry, who caught it one-handed and ran for a 56-yard touchdown, giving Grace a 7-0 lead.
Timpson’s Albert Parker Jr. took the quarterback snap and ran 40 yards for a touchdown, tying the game. Timpson led at halftime. Timpson won the game 40-34.
Jacksonville 49, Dallas Pinkston 6
Jacksonville defeated Dallas Pinkston 49-6. Jacksonville went 0-10 last season.
