As construction progresses for Phase II of Riverfront Plaza, pedestrians and drivers saw lane and pedestrian walkway closures begin along the Main Street Bridge last month as part of the project.
Construction on the Riverfront Plaza Main Street Bridge Nub Removal Project began on Aug. 24, with an estimated completion date of Jan. 30, 2027. This project is led by the City of Jacksonville Department of Public Works and The Haskell Company, the contractor, marking the first step in actualizing a permanent pedestrian connection from the Main Street Bridge to Riverfront Plaza.
The southbound pedestrian walkway will be closed until approximately Jan. 30, 2027 as the City of Jacksonville and The Haskell Company work on Riverfront Plaza Main Street Bridge Nub Removal Project.
As of Aug. 24, the bridge’s southbound lanes toward Riverplace Boulevard are reduced to one lane. The southbound pedestrian walkway will be closed completely for the duration of the project, with rerouted pedestrian access available via a posted detour. This project will not impact northbound traffic.
Phase II construction is expected to be complete early-to-mid 2027.
