With the school year well underway, Friends of Stockton welcomed the community to its annual kickoff event at Fishweir Brewery to celebrate a new school year and share updates about its upcoming plans.
With third-generation students attending the neighborhood school, Friends of Stockton President Talley Roberts welcomed families, teachers, and administrators to the event, which was well attended despite inclement weather. Roberts shared information about recent initiatives funded by FOS, including the “Dolphin Cove” shade structure, unveiled to and named by students last year; new playground equipment; various teacher grants; campus beautification efforts; and laptops and AV equipment.
“We take pride in the fact that we are a neighborhood school with an ever-growing percentage of students coming from the neighborhood, walking and biking daily to the school. We love that our school is a hub of this community,” said Friends of Stockton Co-Vice President Lauren Agresti.
As it does every year, FOS will bring back its annual Dolphin Circle event later this year: an outdoor movie night scheduled for Nov. 18, open to Stockton families and neighborhood residents, during which guests can sponsor suggested projects or improvements for the Stockton Elementary community.
