TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) – A staple in the Big Bend, Johnston’s Meat Market is opening a new location in Northeast Tallahassee.
Monticello has been home to the market for a century and the owners want to extend not only their unique custom cuts and smoked products but also the opportunity for more jobs.
The owner, Patrick Figueroa, said the expansion means a lot to him, his family and his business.
“Our family is really excited about the future in Tallahassee, we’re excited about the area. There’s some other areas that people want us to come to, but right now that’s where we can expand, and again, it’s all about getting good American beef into our people in Tallahassee,” Figueroa said.

They offer a variety of fresh meats and other local goods like honey, jams and more.
Frequent customer Betty Gallon said she loves the market very much.
“I have always liked this place and the quality of the meat, that’s basically what I’m here about, has been top of the line. Why travel from Tallahassee to Monticello because this is not the same; these are homemade. And they’re just different from any of the rest,” Gallon said.
Construction and renovations are still underway at Shamrock Street in the Killearn Village Square.
Customers can expect a similar feel to the Monticello location and it should be complete by the end of this year with hopes of opening soon after.
