MIAMI TOWNSHIP, Ohio (WKEF) — The Miami Township Police Department is investigating a homicide that occurred Friday, September 4.
According to the Miami Township Communications Manager, police responded to 7300 Cold Water Court in the Mad River Apartments Complex around 8:05 a.m.
Officers were dispatched to the location for a welfare check after the victim’s co-worker discovered an open door while checking on the victim who did not report for work.
Officers found a woman suffering from a gunshot wound. She was dead at the scene.
Upon further investigation, police determined that the woman’s vehicle was missing. Investigators believe the suspect in this case was involved in a carjacking attempt in Moraine, and the theft and crash of a Dayton Police Department cruiser.
The Miami Township Police Department, along with the Bureau of Criminal Investigation (BCI) is currently investigating. The Montgomery County Coroner’s Office is working to identify the victim.
Police have not yet shared information about the victim’s identity.
Police have also confirmed that they do not believe there is any threat to the community.
