Katy Perry is opening up about her high-profile split from Orlando Bloom and her subsequent romance with Justin Trudeau.
In a Sept. 2 interview with People, Perry recalled her romance with the Pirates of the Caribbean actor and said she went through a “hard” time when they separated. “It was probably the hardest time. My friends were all hanging out back home. I was crying and just feeling far away,” she said of what it was like to deal with the heartbreak while residing in Australia. “But then my angels went to work. They really showed up.”

Bloom and Perry dated for nearly 10 years until they broke up in 2025. They are co-parents to their 6-year-old daughter, Daisy.
Since her breakup with Bloom, Perry started seeing her current boyfriend, former Canadian Prime Minister Trudeau. Perry noted that Trudeau came into her life at the right moment. She said she met him when she was on her Lifetimes Tour and now she refers to him as the “love of my life.”
“I got to meet Justin on tour, and then things shifted,” she said. Trudeau and Perry were linked in July 2025 when they were photographed on a date in Montreal, where Perry was touring at the time.

Perry then reflected on her relationship with Bloom and said she’s grateful for all the time they spent together.
“I wouldn’t have stayed in something for nine years if there wasn’t really important things to learn. Each relationship is a teacher, right?” she said. “I had to let it go so I could move forward. I always wanted this epic legendary love, and I was talking to my therapist about it: Everything in my life is epic, but this is kind of the missing puzzle piece — then it showed up.”
As for Trudeau, the “Fireworks” hitmaker said she’s been enjoying all the time that they’ve been spending together this summer. So far, he’s attended 10 of her recent concerts.
“He knows the words, he’s supportive, and he’s in awe; it’s super healing,” she said, while adding that Trudeau is also “really heart-centered.”
“And I think that we align in that way. I’m so grateful,” she said.
