ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — On Friday morning, while walking to school, an Olympia High School student was struck by a vehicle, stated the Florida Highway Patrol.

The student was crossing Apopka Vineland Road in front of the Orange County high school when he or she was hit and has been taken to the Orlando Regional Medical Center as a trauma alert, but the student is in stable condition, FHP cited the Orange County Public Schools.

Orange County school district told Spectrum News 13 to reach out to law enforcement for information about the accident.

The FHP confirmed to Spectrum News 13 that the driver may have had a medical episode.

“However, preliminary information shows the possible driver may have experienced a medical episode and is now at Dr. Phillips Hospital,” a FHP spokesperson stated.
