JACKSONVILLE BEACH, Fla. – Jacksonville Beach Ocean Rescue warned beachgoers that lightning has been an issue all weekend and urged people to get out of the water and seek shelter if they see or hear lightning.

With many planning Labor Day beach trips, the agency urged extra caution.
Even though it’s a weekday, the holiday parking policy is in effect. There will be a $15 flat rate from 10 a.m. until midnight. Pay at a kiosk or with the QR codes on signs. No cash accepted.
Officials warned beachgoers to check flag conditions as a moderate rip current risk is expected Monday morning. Swim near a lifeguard and keep children within arm’s reach at all times. If you lose sight of a child, notify a lifeguard immediately.
Officials said lifeguards typically respond to more calls on holiday weekends and encouraged visitors to stay alert around the water.
