Fort Lauderdale police found the bodies of a man and a woman inside one of the units at a residential building in the Flagler Village neighborhood on Saturday, the department confirmed.
The department has not released the names of the deceased or described how they died, but said in a statement that “detectives do not believe there is any immediate threat to the local community.”
The department said officers had initially gone to the location in response to a possible suicide, but provided no further detail — other than to describe the location as the 400 block of Northeast Third Avenue, north of downtown Fort Lauderdale.
But a note to residents of Pearl Flagler Village, a luxury seven-story apartment building on that block, confirmed that the police found two bodies in one of the building’s apartments.
“Law enforcement responded to an incident at an apartment on the property yesterday afternoon and found two deceased individuals in the apartment,” the Pearl’s manager wrote in a note to residents on Sunday. “Based on information provided by authorities, the incident appears to be isolated to the individuals associated with that apartment.”
The investigation is continuing. Anyone with information is asked to contact Detective Sgt. D. Geiger at 954-828-6958 or by providing information anonymously by calling Broward County Crime Stoppers at 954-493-TIPS (8477).
