CAPE CORAL, Fla. — On September 7, 2026, at around 10:45 AM, officers with the Cape Coral Police Department responded to a reported indecent exposure at the HomeGoods on Del Prado Blvd. S.
The call notes said that a man who was fully nude was inside the store. He was later observed putting his black tank top and colorful shorts back on.
When officers arrived, they were directed toward a nearby Aldi after being told the man had walked in that direction and may have entered the store. Officers located a man matching the suspect’s description standing near the entrance. He was later identified as Billy Thomas (DOB 06/02/1983) and was detained for questioning.
While escorting Thomas back toward a patrol car, officers observed a pair of white shoes and a pair of boxer briefs near the entrance of HomeGoods. Thomas stated the items belonged to him. He said he knew why police were called and claimed his clothing had started smoking and that the bicycle he was riding had also started smoking. No bicycle was observed.
Officers also spoke with a woman who said she observed Thomas enter the store, walk into the aisle where she was standing and say, “I’m sorry, I have to do this.” She said Thomas then dropped his pants, exposing his sexual organs. During a live show-up, the woman positively identified Thomas as the man who exposed himself in the store.
A store employee was also interviewed and stated they witnessed Thomas naked.
Billy Thomas was transported to the Lee County Jail and charged with Indecent Exposure.
