FORT PIERCE, Fla. (CBS12) — The St. Lucie County Sheriff’s Office said two dogs were behaving aggressively, leading to one of them being shot.

On Sunday, a man shot and injured one of the dogs after it allegedly charged at him and his wife in Indian River Estates near Palm Drive. The sheriff’s office said Monday that, after reviewing available surveillance video and conducting interviews, detectives determined both dogs were acting aggressively.

According to the sheriff’s office, the husband went inside his home, retrieved a firearm and returned outside. When one of the dogs continued behaving aggressively, he fired the gun, striking the dog. The second dog fled the area.
