Body found floating near St. Pete Pier; police investigating

A body was spotted floating in the water near the St. Pete Pier on Tuesday afternoon, according to the St. Petersburg Police Department.

The body was found shortly before 2 p.m. The St. Petersburg Marine Patrol arrived promptly and brought the man’s body to the marina, police say.

Once 10 Tampa Bay News arrived on scene around 2:15 p.m., the scene was cleared.

An investigation into the man’s identity is ongoing. Police say the medical examiner is working to determine the cause of death.
