MARION COUNTY, Fla. – A stretch of West Highway 40 in Dunnellon has been closed after a deputy-involved shooting, according to the Marion County Sheriff’s Office.
In a release on Tuesday shortly after 9 p.m., the MCSO revealed that the 23,200 block of West Highway 40 had been shut down due to the shooting, which involved the Levy County Sheriff’s Office.
“The area will remain closed while the Levy County Sheriff’s Office and the Florida Department of Law Enforcement conduct their investigation,” the release reads.
Deputies are urging drivers to avoid the area and use an alternate route until further notice.
No additional information has been provided at this time, including the background of the shooting or whether any injuries resulted from it.
