Man accused of pulling gun when confronted for urinating outside Fort Myers apartment
FORT MYERS, Fla. —
A Cape Coral man was arrested on Saturday by Fort Myers police after being accused of pointing a gun at someone while urinating outside an apartment.
According to the Fort Myers Police Department, officers responded to an apartment in the 4200 block of DeSoto Avenue at around 4:21 p.m. following a report of a gun threat.
Officers met with the victim, who told them he had confronted a man after seeing him urinating outside the apartment. The victim said the man, later identified as Hector Covarrubias, 28, then pulled a gun from his waistband and pointed it at the victim, stating that he could do what he wanted, FMPD said.
A police report Gulf Coast News obtained on Tuesday said Covarrubias went into an apartment, came back outside without the gun, argued with the victim and returned inside.
The victim also confronted Covarrubias and told him to stop because children were nearby.
The victim told police he feared for his life and he called 911.
Covarrubias was detained at the scene, and officers recovered a gun while investigating. Covarrubias was arrested and faces charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon without intent to kill and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
