A wide exterior photograph showing vendors standing behind their booth at the New Moon Makers Market in St. Petersburg, Florida. Under a purple pop-up canopy, four smiling organizers and makers stand behind a table covered in promotional flyers, small signs, a woven basket, and a chalkboard sign. On the far left, a person with blonde hair wears a crop top and brown pants next to a person in a white t-shirt. In the center, a person wearing a black sleeveless top stands beside a person on the right wearing a cream-colored "New Moon Makers Market" t-shirt, set against an outdoor parking lot with parked cars and trees in soft evening light.New Moon Makers Market Credit: New Moon Makers Market

Don’t let the machines fool you. Most of the things worth experiencing in the world are still analog. Lots of the good stuff is pretty gay, too.

Just look at the New Moon Makers’ Market, self-styled as “st pete’s queerest & dearest market,” the bazaar is back from summer break and ready to kick off its sixth season (timed, obviously to the moon cycle).

As previously reported by Tampa Bay Journalism Project publication The Sapphic Sun, to help preserve local flavor, New Moon’s curation prioritizes independent local creators who “reflect the diversity and uniqueness of St. Pete itself, both in medium and in persons. It also only allows vendors who make the products they sell, and vendors can’t use AI in their product creation or marketing.

Three more dates—Oct. 11, Nov. 8 and Dec. 13—are set following this weekend.

There’s no cover for the New Moon Makers Market happening Sunday, Sept. 13 at Allendale United Methodist Church in St. Petersburg.
