Florida quarterback DJ Lagway didn’t have a good game against Kentucky on Saturday night.
Lagway completed only 11-of-19 passes for 83 yards, one touchdown and three interceptions before Florida interim head coach Billy Gonzales benched him. Gonzales saw enough and benched Lagway for freshman Tramell Jones Jr., who only threw for 60 yards when he came in.

The Gators jumped out to a 7-3 lead in the first quarter before they were outscored 35-0 in the next three quarters. This loss dropped their overall record to 3-6, and they’ll need to win their final three games to reach bowl eligibility.

In nine games this season, he has amassed 1,762 yards through the air, 11 touchdowns, and 12 interceptions. The Gators just haven’t gotten good enough play from him this year.
Lagway was part of the 2024 recruiting class and was a five-star recruit, per 247Sports Composite rankings.
The Gators will take on the sixth-ranked Ole Miss Rebels on Nov. 15 before playing the No. 25 Tennessee Volunteers on Nov. 22. After they close out SEC play against those two teams, they’ll host the Florida State Seminoles on Nov. 29 to end the regular season.
