A Hialeah man is facing charges after police said he stole over $12,000 worth of iPads from a Sweetwater business that had fired him earlier in the day.
Ariel Galindo, 43, was arrested Wednesday on charges of burglary and grand theft, Miami-Dade jail records showed.
The alleged crime happened Sept. 4 at the business on Northwest 21st Street.
According to an arrest report, an employee said he was outside the warehouse smoking when he saw a former co-worker, Galindo, drive past then enter the warehouse while wearing a mask.
Galindo grabbed two boxes of merchandise that contained around 30 iPads worth $12,400, then left, the report said.
The owner of the business watched surveillance video and recognized the suspect as Galindo, who she’d fired earlier that same day for not showing up to work for two consecutive days, the report said.
Investigators later discovered Galindo had sold five iPads at a pawn shop about two hours after the theft, the report said.
Galindo was booked into jail and on Thursday appeared before a judge, who appointed him a public defender and set his bond at $15,000.
