JACKSONVILLE, Ill. (WICS/WRSP) – The Jacksonville Police Department (JPD) were made aware of a possible sexual assault that had previously occurred.
The JPD Investigative Division began the investigation in August 2026. Investigators subsequently arrested Austin D. Sims, 26, for Aggravated Criminal Sexual Assault with his victim being between the ages of 13-16.
The victim was known to Sims and the incident appears to be isolated. Sims is currently being held at the Morgan County Jail where he awaits charges from the Morgan County State’s Attorney.
